JESUS!! I don't know how much the fee for mine was, but it sure wasn't that. Driving is different over here, it's more of a necessity. I was driving by the time I was 15, lol. No public transportation to speak of where I am.

It's 5 bucks to replace a drivers licenses. But I don't know how much it is to intially get one.

to renew mine last time was $10....dont remember what it was when I got my first one since most of you werent even born then---and my dad paid for that back in the days of disco.....
yes you almost have to have a car and license if you dont live in a big city here....suburban and rural areas are very hard to get around to and from with only a bike or the bus (if there even is one).

update:
and in the USA each state sets the prices etc for the drivers licenses...its not a national thing (as many americans who want to get a japanese license learned)....so each state is different....

well, we've got loads of taxes, around 50% from our pay and 25% on any other things, including cars, fruits yeha anything.

Yeah, i don't know why it's so expensive, it's really annoying, but i payed for mine, now i just gota go to some lessons, yeah i started to get my drivers license, finally ;P

our collective traffic, however, is awesome.

Taxes suck. I hate taxes so very much, darn government. >< But can't do anything about it...

It's hard to find public transportation in small cities. I know in my hometown we don't have any public transportation. The city my college is in does but it's still not very good. So ya, public transportation is for large cities.
